With 2021 coming to a close, we’ve put together a list of the wedding trends we’re expecting to see in 2022. If you’re planning yours, take a look through for some inspiration.

Rented Dresses

This is one for eco-conscious brides, instead of buying a new dress to wear once, why not consider renting? Dresses can be pretty pricey and by renting you can wear your dream dress for a fraction of the price. Spend the saving elsewhere or pocket it for a rainy day!

Puff sleeve dresses are set to be big in the coming year, with so many brides inspired by the hit show Bridgerton. Elegant two pieces are also predicted to be another popular style in 2022. They’re so versatile and can allow brides to layer an overskirt or switch to trousers for the party.

Natural Themes

In terms of venue styling, natural themes are expected to trend. Dried flowers paired with lots of greenery create a stunning finish and can be carried from the ceremony to into your venue. Earthy tones, leaves and foliage reflect the natural world and can work brilliantly for an autumnal wedding. Be sure to emulate the theme in your clothing and accessories for a beautiful cohesive finish.

Eco-Concious Confetti

Biodegradable confetti has been ‘in’ for a few years now and its due to stay that way. There are plenty of options on the market but you can also make your own. Collect some leaves and use a hole punch with a cute design to cut out little shapes, voila you have confetti! It’s essential you consider your confetti as many venues only allow it if it’s biodegradable.

Shopping Local

Over the last couple of years we’ve seen a boom in shopping local and it’s very likely this will continue. From dress boutiques, florists like Ravenshill Flower Farm, and food vendors like Over Farm Catering you can get everything you need for the day from businesses in your area. Support small in your wedding planning process, not only does it help the local economy, the reduced delivery distance is better for the environment!

Communal Dining

With everyone allowed to be together again, it’s still a novelty! Your wedding food can encourage interaction between guests, it’s a great way of getting both sides of family and friends to chat to one another. Shared bowls of vegetables or salad work well and get everyone talking as they pass between one another. BBQs or hog roasts are casual alternatives to a sit-down meal, again giving your guests a little bit of encouragement to get talking.

Weekday Weddings

There’s still a backlog of couples who didn’t manage to get married during 2020 or 2021 and this is likely to continue into next year’s calendar. With prime dates booked up, we’re already seeing a trend for increased weekday bookings. Cheaper rates and greater availability are just two of the benefits of avoiding the weekend.

Unique Entertainment

Switching up the entertainment is something is a trend we’ve seen for a couple of years now, but it’s expected to be huge for 2022. With drag queens, silent discos and Motown ensembles being some of the top predictions we can’t wait to see the epic parties that unfold at Over Barn.

The Great Outdoors

During the pandemic, we’ve all realised just how great the outdoors really is. We’re looking forward to seeing more couples to take advantage of the outdoor space we have at Over Barn. There are so many ways to incorporate our spacious courtyard into your day with al fresco ceremonies and dining being just two ideas.
