Do we need an appointment to view the barn?

Yes you do, please contact us to arrange a viewing.

What is the cost to hire Over Barn?

What are your running times?

This varies depending on the type of package you choose but we try to be flexible and the bar is licensed until 2am.

How do I book?

For weddings, we require a non-refundable £1,000 deposit and for party packages a non-refundable £400 deposit to confirm your booking.

Is there a damage deposit?

Yes, we require a £200 damage deposit at least 30 days prior to your event.

What is the maximum number of guests I can have?

We can comfortably seat up to 120 guests. For parties and wedding evening receptions, the barn can hold up to 180 guests.

Is the barn available during the winter?

Yes it is but please remember the barn is over 160 years old, and in keeping with its rustic charm, is not fitted with central heating. Heaters are provided within the barn in the winter months at no additional cost.

Is there accommodation on the farm?

Yes we have rooms available from £60 per room, per night. There is also a camping field, which is charged at £5 per camping pitch. Guests are able to bring their own tents or arrange glamping with an external supplier.

Can we have amplified music at the venue?

Yes within the barn but not outdoors. Acoustic music outdoors is fine.

Does the hire of the venue including catering?

No. If required, Over Farm Market is able to provide informal BBQ catering and pig roasts.

Can I bring in my own caterers or do the catering myself?

Yes, we charge £200 for hire of our kitchen should you need to use it.

Are pets allowed?

Generally yes, if arranged by prior consent from us.

Are table and chairs included in the cost?

Table and chair hire is included in our wedding packages but not in our party packages. Please ask us for a quote if you would like table and chairs at your party.

Do you provide table linen?

No. If  your chosen catering company isn’t providing tablecloths, Creating by Krista can hire them to you for £7.50 each.

What are the drink prices from the bar?

Our bar drinks are reasonably priced from £3.50 for alcoholic drinks and from £1.50 for soft drinks.

Do you serve hot drinks from the bar?

Yes we sell tea, coffee and hot chocolate (self service).

Can guests use a debit/credit card at the bar?

Yes, for transactions that are £5 or over.

Can I provide my own drinks?

We offer a range of drinks packages for arrival, toast and table drinks, including Pimms, prosecco and bottled beer/cider. If you would like to bring your own drink , there is a £5 per bottle corkage fee for wine and prosecco/Champagne (up to 750ml) – available for wedding packages only, up until 7pm.

Can we get married in the barn?

We do not have a civil wedding licence but some couples choose to hold a blessing in the barn or on the farm for their guests after registering their marriage.

Is the venue exclusive to us?

The barn is hired on an exclusive basis but please note that it is based on a working farm and we have events running throughout the year. Accommodation is not offered on an exclusive basis.

Do you have decorations and fairy lights for hire?

No, but we recommend the following companies:
Vintage props – The Stable Prop Hire
Flowers and styling – Creating by Krista
Fairy and festoon lights – Every Event Hire

Do you supply a table plan stand?


Do you have any outdoor games?

Yes we have an undercover skittle alley in our courtyard, loved by both adults and children!

What can I use to put up my decorations?

We are happy for you to use drawing pins for your decorations but not staple guns, glue or nails. Due to legislation, we are not able to provide guests with ladders, guests must bring their own if required.

Do you have built-in sound systems and PA equipment?

No, due to the rustic of nature of the barn. If you are looking to hire a PA system, we recommend Oxygen Events.

Can I bring candles to the barn?

Yes if they are enclosed in a glass container. Please remember to ‘flick the wick’ upright so they are ready for lighting.

Is there WiFi at the barn?


Who arranges the ‘master of ceremonies’ for weddings?

Yourselves. We provide a relaxed and informal wedding venue. Most couples will leave this as a job for the best man.

Do you allow confetti?

Yes, as long as it’s real petals or biodegradable. Glitter cannons are not allowed.

Do you allow fireworks?

No, as the farm is home to a variety of animals. We can set up a fire in the courtyard (£20 for fire wood), which creates an ambient outdoor setting. Sparklers are allowed. Paper sky lanterns are not permitted.

Do I need wedding insurance?

Yes it is strongly recommended that your take out suitable insurance to cover all aspects of your wedding.

Can we hire the farm’s tractor trailer?

Yes, for farm use only. We are not able to take the tractor trailer on the road.

Can we leave our presents at the barn?

We are happy to store flowers and decorations overnight (for guests on the three day wedding package) but cannot accept responsibility of any presents left at the venue.

What parking is there?

There is plenty of parking available close to the barn to allow for the maximum capacity of the barn (180 guests).

Is there disabled access?

The barn has disabled access on the ground floor and a disabled toilet. We do not have a lift to the mezzanine level.

Can I leave my rubbish at the barn?

No, all rubbish, including food waste, must be taken with you.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made before the final balance is due (one month before the hire date) forfeit the deposit. Cancellations made less than one month before the hire date will lose 100% of the hire charge.
