For the first time ever we have October dates available at Over Barn, so it was only right we put together a list of some of our favourite tips, tricks and ideas for Autumn weddings.

Decorating the Barn
Select a gorgeous earthy palette to achieve that cosy atmosphere. Finishing touches like pinecones, accents of bronze and candles are great additions. Bringing rustic textures like hessian and tweed into the mix helps bring everything together. Fairy lights and small candles dotted around create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Picking the Clothing
A wedding dress with elegant sleeves or a classy shoulder cape will work perfectly with the theme and weather. An autumnal flower crown for the Bride and matching buttonholes for the Groom’s suit will look stunning in the photos. Stick with warm hues for the Bridesmaid dresses, you could even ask the guests to wear something that fits with the colour scheme too!
Food
Pick seasonal dishes and snacks so everything ties in. Comfort foods like soup or baked Camembert with warm bread are great for starters. Pies are perfect for the cooler weather or a hog roast for a more casual meal. Incorporate vegetables like pumpkin and butternut squash where you can to keep the flavours on theme. Toffee apples, cheese boards and fruit crumbles are lovely ideas for dessert.
Things to do
Hire an acoustic singer for a chilled-out soundtrack to welcome drinks. Take advantage of the fire pit at Over Barn, set up a DIY marshmallow toasting and hot chocolate station so guests can enjoy the Courtyard. Use small pumpkins to set up a twist on the classic coconut shy, entertaining guests of all ages. Create a photo backdrop out of Autumn leaves and fairy lights, don’t forget to include your wedding hashtag nearby so guests can share their photos online!

The rustic nature of Over Barn provides the perfect backdrop for this kind of wedding. Get in touch to see what we could do for you and your fiancé.
