For the first time ever we’re offering New Year’s Eve as a wedding date. Whether you got engaged on NYE and want to celebrate that exactly a year later by tying to knot or want to get married on a day where most people are free, it’s a fab wedding date.

Pre-Booking Considerations
If those you really want at your wedding are working on New Year’s Eve or already have plans it might not be worth choosing this date. Speak to them and gauge interest before seeking venue availability, it’s important to have everyone onboard. NYE is one of the most popular party nights of the year so you’ll be fighting against other couples to secure the date, so get in there early.
Food and Drink
The best part of the night will be when the clock strikes midnight, your guests won’t want to end the party and go home straight away. Take this into account, agree to extend the bar with your venue and keep your DJ on longer. With a later finish, your guests may get a little peckish. Cheeseboards and nibbles with dips are easy ways to keep everyone full as the evening moves into the early hours of the morning.
Prepare for that midnight celebration with a glass of fizz. Upgrade to champagne for a luxurious feel, it is New Year’s Eve after all! Remember to provide a non-alcoholic option for those who don’t drink.
Photo Opportunities
It’s important to make sure your photographer knows you’d like them to stay right until the end and you understand this is likely to incur a cost which is more expensive than their standard rate.
Sparkler shots are so beautiful all year round but would work perfectly as a New Year’s send off as you leave the venue. Make sure your guests know this is happening, you want as many of them as possible to stay right until the end. Agree with your photographer in advance if there’s anything specific you’d like them to capture such as you and your guests see in the New Year at 12am!
Glitz and Glam
Get your guests to go all out with their outfits. Encourage them to incorporate glitter and sequins into their looks for the ultimate glitz and glam party. The easiest way to do this is to opt for a black-tie dress code and let people know through your invites.
Decorations and Favours
One of the most important décor considerations is having something for your guests to watch the countdown to midnight. We love the idea of adding a statement clock at the front of the dancefloor. Another great idea is to use a projector to display the time on a wall. Setting up confetti cannons add that extra celebration to the clock striking twelve.
Have some fun with the favours. Champagne minis or truffles, party hats or novelty NYE glasses are some festive ideas that will set the tone for the rest of the night. Keep your table décor classy, use glitter sparingly, pair monochrome decorations with accents of metal.
If you’re really making the most of the glitz and glam theme, ensure any glitter you use is eco-friendly. The microplastics in the conventional type can end up in our rivers and oceans harming wildlife.
