It’s Halloween week, so we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite spooky ideas for weddings. Incorporating Halloween into your theme doesn’t have to be tacky, read on for ways to keep it stylish but add an element of fun.

What to Wear

Dress options for the Bride are endless. Of course, the traditional white or ivory will look stunning however, there are plenty of Gothic-style dresses on the market. The Groom can coordinate with a deep burgundy suit, velvet would fit the theme to a tee!

Mix it up, instead of traditional pastel or brightly coloured Bridesmaid dresses opt for a dramatic black look. Add striking pops of colour through their bouquets, purple and red tones look great.

Classy Touches

Keep it classy, spray mini pumpkins shades of gold and use as centrepieces. Pick out décor with more subtle references to Halloween, we love the idea of cobweb fairy lights and vintage candelabras. Ghost-shaped cake pops and mysterious green candy floss are great ideas for favours which can be enjoyed by everyone.

The All-Important Food and Drink

For welcome drinks, serve smoking cocktails with novelty straws. Pumpkin soup or carved stuffed peppers are two of our favourite starter ideas for autumn weddings. ‘Eyeballs’ and spaghetti or charcuterie boards with scary touches are amusing but delicious main meal options.

A creepy cake is sure to attract some attention! Combine sugar skulls with roses or add an eerie spider topper for a show stopping finish. A vintage knife will add the ultimate touch to the cake cutting shots.

Have some fun!

If you’ve chosen Halloween as your theme, you’re definitely up for a bit of fun! Include a pumpkin carving station for children (be sure to provide plenty of aprons to protect those outfits)! Set up a mini trick or treat circuit around the tables to keep the kids entertained after the meal. For the adults, fill syringes with shots for a fun twist.

Make sure your DJ or band know to play a few Halloween classics, there’s nothing better than everyone having a boogie to Time Warp! Fancy dress is the best thing about Halloween, right? Hire a photo booth with terrifying props like witches’ hats and vampire teeth.

If you haven’t already heard, we have dates available at Over Barn for October 2022 and 2023, the perfect time for a Halloween wedding. If you’re looking for a venue to host your spooktacular day, get in touch and book a viewing!
