Eek, getting those all-important wedding invitations right can be a bit of a stressful task, especially when you’ve got everything else to worry about as well! Which is why we’ve put together this handy checklist of 5 things that should be included on your wedding invitations.
Ceremony start time
Yes, we might be teaching you to sucks eggs here, but it’s best to make sure the most important info is included.
Be sure to include both your ceremony venue and reception venue (if they are in two different places) along with the start time for each part.
A Map
If you’ve got guests coming from out of town or two different locations it may be a good idea to include a map. This will avoid any confusion and hopefully stop you being asked the same questions over and over again.
Gift list
If you want to ask for specific gifts for your wedding then you can’t go wrong with a wedding gift list. Providing a link on your invitations will take the awkwardness out of the situation and the majority of your guest will be happy to have a heads up on what you really want.
Plus ones and dress codes
It’s always good to let your guests know what the expectations are in terms of the dress code (i.e. if it’s black tie), and adding the plus one info on will just avoid the headache of having people asking a few weeks before the wedding.
RSVP
The last thing you want is to be chasing people before the big day and the easiest way to avoid this is to include an RSVP card with your invitation. You could include the usual tick and cross boxes plus details about dietary requirements and any other info you might need from your guests.
This could be accompanied by an addressed and stamped envelope or an email address for them to reply to. Just don’t forget to include a RSVP date so that you can get accurate numbers for the venue, table plan and caterers
Although the location, date & time are the only real necessity, remember it’s your day and if you think something should be on your invitations then don’t be afraid to add it!
