At Over Barn, we’re lucky enough to have a bridal suite conveniently located above the barn. The area is perfect for bridal parties to get ready onsite, with plenty of space, mirrors and a private changing area. Match With Your Bridal Party
Whether it’s silky robes or pyjamas, personalised clothing to wear whilst getting glammed looks great in photos and makes the day feel extra special. There’s so much choice online, support small and order your bespoke garments from an Etsy seller.
A Rough Timeline
Write up a rough timeline to keep everything on track and remember to bring it with you. Plan when each of your bridal party will have their makeup and hair slot and when everyone needs to be ready for. You don’t want to be excessively late to your ceremony and add extra stress to the situation.
The Outfits
It’s essential you bring everything needed for the outfits. Dresses and shoes for you and your bridesmaids are obvious but you also need to think of practicalities. For example, our dress might require a strapless bra. To avoid a fashion disaster, remember to pack it.
Food and Drink
You want the whole group to feel fuelled and ready for the day. We’ve seen some bridal parties bring amazing charcuterie boards or breakfast buffets to pick at as they get ready. Remember to bring lots of water, you’ll want to be fully hydrated, especially if you’re planning on drinking alcohol later in the day.
A bottle of prosecco or champagne can be great to toast the occasion. Bring some orange juice to create Buck’s Fizz or for the non-drinkers in the group. Be careful and avoid overdoing it, no one wants to watch a drunk bride walk down the aisle.
Practicalities
There are practical considerations you need to make. Bring painkillers, someone is bound to get a headache. Plasters, fake tan eraser and deodorant are just a few bits that could come in handy during the getting ready process. A few extension leads will come in handy as everyone will want to charge their phones and extra sockets will be needed for hair tools.
Hair and Makeup
Many brides choose to book makeup artists and hairdressers to come in and glam them up. Check in with them in the run up to the day, you’ll want full confirmation they’ll be there when they need to be.
If you’re planning on doing your own, it’s very important you remember everything you need. Practice your makeup the night before, adding each product into a makeup bag as you go. Pack extra makeup remover, hair pins and hairspray as it’s always good to have spare.
